1) Let's talk about math just a little. We start with EQUALITY. 1 = 1 is the true beginning. Add them, and we get 2. That's how we build a number line. 2 + 1 = 3 and so forth... Now it starts to get interesting! We discover INEQUALITY, like so: 2 > 1, or 2 is greater than 1.
2) Betcha didn't know I lied, above, I'm not really talking about math, I'm talking about the law. Equality before the law is the bedrock foundation of the very idea of freedom itself, and of course, the idea that spawned America. Hmm. Equality. As opposed to inequality.
3) But in today's America, some are greater than others before the law. Inequality. In our law, today: Andy McCabe > Mike Flynn. Mike Flynn didn't lie, and is bankrupted by the false prosecution. Andy McCabe did lie, and is rich and free, completely protected.
4) I hope it's obvious that I am damning the application of law in our nation over these things. How could we ever justify the... Unequal application of law? How do we look ourselves in the mirror and tolerate this?
5) Here is my somber optimistic prediction. Just as the famed New Math went down in a flaming heap, so also will America's New Law based upon Unequal Application, and a 2-tiered class of citizens. How will that occur?
6) Somberly pessimistic, I'm not sure that it will. But on my optimistic side, I hope that truth will have its out, and that we will face both our future and our past as a people. Optimistically, I believe we are awakening, and see the threat, and in facing it, gain hope.
7) Look. See. There's McCabe free. There's Flynn not free. How can you question that our law sees McCabe as greater than Flynn? If we are able to embrace the injustice of this, and follow its path through our practice of law, perhaps we may correct ourselves.
8) Another term for inequality is asymmetry. We claim to stand upon the principle of innocent unless proven guilty, yet we place vastly greater power, from the leaning of the courts to the public purse to pay for endless, limitless prosecution. This asymmetry is killing us.
9) Can we awaken; are we awakening? I don't know the method of transformation. I know that I won't shut up about it, and I hope you won't either. I admit, I wish this was only math, and not law. But facts trump wishes, by far. We face the question of law.
